Parent of a Geologist

I’m virtually marching because my daughter, a young geologist who made this sign for last year’s March, is currently teaching in Japan and is watching her country’s leadership fail its constituency in the worst way by choosing idealism and religious dogma and capitalistic profiteering over science. She is appalled and finds herself constantly explaining to her Japanese colleagues and students that the U.S. isn’t completely ignorant, that those attitudes and actions are on behalf of the vast minority of Americans. Denying scientific consensus, especially with regard to climate change, is dangerous and an embarrassment globally.
